Summer is in full effect and protecting ourselves against the harmful sun rays is incredibly important. As we slather ourselves with sunscreen, our little ones younger than 6 months are exposed given sunscreen can't be applied to them. What are the options?
Doctors advise adults to wear light clothing to cover from the sun and the same can be done for babies. Use Kiddie Clips and a muslin swaddle blanket, bamboo cotton preferably, to clip to the stroller or infant car seat. Muslin is a light weight fabric, that is natural and breathable. Perfect to use to cover babies. But the subject of covering babies has been a hot topic lately (maybe because it's summer? okay bad joke) swirling around the 'mom forums'.
'Covering babies can make them overheat'
'There's no air circulating'
'You can't keep an eye on your baby when they are covered!'
These are all valid points and I have a solution for them. Use Kiddie Clips, stroller blanket clips. These clips are made for muslin swaddle blankets! And because they are clips, you control where the blanket is placed and clipped to the stroller. More sun on the left, create a 'peek-space' to keep an eye on baby, or baby needs to be covered top to bottom. You decide.
Now go out and enjoy the outdoors. Summers in Canada are short.
